LAS VEGAS - The New Mexico women's golf team swept the team and individual titles at the Las Vegas Founders Women's Collegiate Showdown for the second straight year on Wednesday.

The Lobos, who began the day with a 15-stroke lead over Tennessee, carded a five-over par 293 as a team amid cold and rainy conditions throughout the day's final round at the par-72, 6,194-yard Anthem Country Club. That held up for an 18-stroke lead over the Volunteers, who finished second.

Leading the way for UNM as she had throughout the tournament was Katrina Leckovic. Leckovic carried a one-stroke lead into the final round and survived the harsh weather to post an even-par 72, earning her a two-stroke win over Missouri's Maria Ohlsson.

The Lobos' sweep marks a repeat of the tournament's honors, as UNM won both the individual and team crowns at last year's inaugural Showdown.

The hosts were not as fortunate as UNLV, which finished second at last year's Showdown, placed seventh in the 15-team field at 39-over par.

The Rebels boasted two top-20 finishes on their home course, belonging to junior Hwanhee Lee and sophomore Sunny Oh. Lee, who began the day tied for eighth, shot a final-round 76 to move to six-over. That was good for a tie with Oh, who charged ahead in the last round with a 71.

Rounding out the Rebels' team 301 were Young Pak, who shot a career-low 72 to finish tied for 43rd at 18-over, and Seema Sadekar, who also finished at 18-over after shooting 82. Elena Kurokawa stumbled to a final-round 87, which did not count toward the team total.

Also playing for the Rebels as individuals were: Tina Mabanta (79-77-78--234), Christine Hentzner (88-80-77--245), Ayeesha Kosugi (81-84-86--251) and Erin McGough (90-84-91--265).

Wednesday's round completes the Rebels' fall season. They will remain idle until Feb. 23, 2004, when they begin play at the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.
