LAS VEGAS - The unranked UNLV men's tennis team dropped its sixth consecutive match, this time to No. 14 South Carolina, 6-1 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Wednesday.
The Rebels fell to 1-7 while the Gamecocks improved to 11-1.
Despite a solid effort, UNLV was swept in three doubles matches to begin the day. In singles play, USC made quick work of positions 4-6 to clinch the match. UNLV finally got on the board with a straight set win by Aviram Salomon, 6-2, 6-2, over Tom Eklund at the No. 3 position.
The Gamecocks used a tiebreaker to take the match at No. 1 and prevailed in a three-setter at No. 2.
Next up for UNLV is the eight-team Rebel Classic this weekend. UNLV opens play Friday vs. Montana State-Billings beginning at 1 p.m.
