LAS VEGAS - UNLV head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle has announced the signing of Matt Minor to a national letter of intent.
Minor, a 6-1 RHP, will join the Rebels for the 2004 season from the Community College of Southern Nevada, where he is completing his sophomore year. He originally hails from Miami Beach, Fla., and came to Las Vegas from Okaloosa Walton Community College in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
As CCSN enters the SWAC Region 18 Conference Tournament, Minor has posted a 4-0 record with five saves and a 0.92 ERA.
During his senior year at Dr. Michael Krop High School in Miami, Fla., Minor put together an 8-3 record with a 1.79 ERA.
"We are excited to have Matt as a member of our program," said Schlossnagle. "He can pitch in a variety of roles and has gained outstanding experience in a great program with Coach (Tim) Chambers."
Minor chose UNLV over Texas Tech, New Mexico State and Arizona.
