Rebels Shoot Past Lobos

LAS VEGAS (AP) J.K. Edwards tied a career-high with 21 points on 9-of-9 shooting along with 10 rebounds and seven blocks to lead UNLV past New Mexico 89-80.

UNLV (11-6, 2-3 Mountain West Conference) shot 59 percent from the field as a team on 29-of-49 attempts.

Romel Beck scored a team-high 22 points, while Odartey Blankson added 21 points. Jerel Blassingame added 13 points.

New Mexico's Javin Tindall led all scorers and tied a career-high with 27 points, and making nine 3-pointers in 11 attempts.

David Chiotti added 19 points for the Lobos, who out-rebounded UNLV 37-28.

New Mexico (11-7, 2-3) trailed 50-34 at halftime, but made a run in the second half.

The Lobos cut the Rebels' lead to 55-50 with 14:54 to go, but got no closer.

UNLV built its largest lead, 45-25, with 3:02 until halftime, after a 24-6 run.

The Rebels shot 7-of-10 from 3-point range in the half and were 18-of-25 from the field.

Tindall was 5-for-5 in the first half from 3-point range and the Lobos as a team went 6-for-12.

The Rebels finished the game 9-of-19 from 3-point range for 47 percent, while the Lobos were 14-of-30 for 47 percent.
