LAS VEGAS - More than 100 men's collegiate tennis players will compete this week at the 2004 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Championships to be held for the eighth consecutive year at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the UNLV campus.
Members from 16 western teams will face off as individuals from Wednesday through Sunday on 12 courts each day in both singles and doubles.
This will be one of 17 ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over these last two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. Both singles finalists and the championship doubles team at each site advance to the 2004 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the University of Michigan on Nov. 4-7.
Wednesday's first round gets under way at 8 a.m. A second round of singles will follow and doubles are scheduled to begin the following day. There will be a consolation draw in singles to ensure each entrant at least two matches.
