Sports Information Department Seeks Assistant

LAS VEGAS - UNLV Athletics is seeking a sports information intern that will assist the Sports Information Department with publicizing and promoting UNLV's 17 NCAA Division I athletic programs and will serve as the primary contact for volleyball and softball.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: producing media guides, writing press releases and feature articles, coordinating all media activities and staffing home events with assigned sports, compiling statistics, updating and contributing to department website, maintaining photo and historical archives and processing Mountain West Conference and NCAA requests. Other duties as assigned. Involves team travel.

Must have bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college and prior experience as a primary contact in a college sports information environment. Proven writing, communication, organization and computer skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Ability to write edit and produce press releases and media guides. Knowledge and experience with the internet, word processing, photo manipulation, layout and statistical software. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and travel.

$1,350 per month with an opportunity to earn extra for working for visiting television production crews, layout and design, etc. Internship to run through May, 2005.
