Nov. 6, 2004

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's Joel Kielbowicz won twice Saturday and upset a ranked opponent for the second consecutive day to win the Rebel Classic at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Kielbowicz, a Las Vegas native, first upended Illinois' Ruben Gonzales 6-3, 6-4 and then rallied to down 105th-ranked Oscar Posada of East Tennessee State 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 for the Flight One singles title.

"Joel made a statement at this tournament that he will be a major factor in the Mountain West Conference during the spring season," UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said. "He beat two good players today from quality programs. He had quite a tournament."
