DeCree Takes First

LOS ANGELES - Hamila DeCree took first place honors in the 100 meter dash as the UNLV women's track and field team competed in the USC Trojan Invitational on Saturday at Katherine B. Loker Stadium on the USC campus.

DeCree posted a time of 11.52 to win the 100 meter dash, while teammate Kiyota Reed was fifth at 11.81 Christine Spence also tied for first in the high jump with a height of 5-08.75 feet.

Reed led three Rebels in top-eight finishes in the 100 meter hurdles, taking second at 13:88. Miesha McClendon was third at 14:03, and Spence was fifth with a time of 14:34. Spence also took fourth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.36), while Deanna Appuglise was sixth (1:06.11) and Ashley Patin was seventh (1:06.28).

Other top eight finishes included Ashley Pierce, sixth in the 1500 meters at 4:47.51, Michele Suszek, fouth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11:10.6), DeCree, sixth in the long jump (18-05.75 feet), Nicole Duhart, sixth in the triple jump (38-10.50 feet), and Angeline Ghabi, sixth in the shot put (43-01.00 feet).

UNLV will return to action on Saturday, March 27 at the Stanford Invitational.
