LONG BEACH, Calif. - Three Rebels, Hamila DeCree, Tiffany Smith, and Nicole Duhart all won events to highlight the day's action as the UNLV women's track and field team competed at the Jack Rose Long Beach Relays on Saturday from
DeCree led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 meter dash for UNLV, as she won in a time of 12.10, while Miesha McClendon was second (12.34) and Kiyota Reed third at 12.66. The jumping events was also good to the Rebels, as Tiffany Smith took first in the long jump with a jump of 18-03.00 feet, while DeCree placed second (18-03.00). Nicole Duhart won the triple jump event by jumping 38-11.00 feet.
UNLV posted several other top eight finishes. In the 100 meter hurdles, McClendon was second (14.39), Reed third (14.46), and Christine Spence fifth (14.74). Deanna Appuglise and Ashley Patin finished seventh and eighth in the 400 meter hurdles in times of 1:08.79 and 1:09.41, respectively.
Michele Suszek was runner-up in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with an 11:12.79 time, while Ashley Pierce was fourth (12:18.12). Spence added a second place finish in the high jump (5-08.00). In the throwing events, Angeline Ghabi was fourth (43-01.50) and Angie Turner (39-10.00) eighth in the shot put. Turner added a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw (140-03), while Ghabi was fifth (138-06) and Brittney Turner was eighth (123-01).
UNLV will return to action on Saturday, March 20 at USC Relays in Los Angeles, Calif.
