AUSTIN, Texas - UNLV's Christine Spence claimed a spot in finals of the 400m hurdles after placing ninth in the preliminaries on Friday at the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Spence ran a career-best time of 57.60 to place third in her heat. That time was good for ninth overall, and the top nine finishers from the prelims all advanced to Saturday's finals. This is Spence's first trip to the finals, and she is bidding for her first All-American performance (top eight finishers). The finals will start at 5:40 pm (PST), and live results are available on the web at http://www.texassports.com/results/ncaa2004/.
