HOT SPRINGS, Va. - UNLV junior golfer Ryan Moore shot 70 in the second round of play at the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship on Wednesday and sits just one stroke off the lead.

Moore remains tied for fourth overall, a single stroke behind a trio of players. California's Jeff Hood, Arizona's Chris Nallen and Kentucky's Matt Wells are all four-under par after two rounds at the par-70, 6,679-yard Cascades Course at the Homestead Resort.

Moore, along with two others, share the fourth position on the leaderboard at three-under. The Rebel ace carded an even par, marked with three birdies and three bogeys.

The threesome of Moore, Wake Forest's Bill Haas and Kansas State's A.J. Elgert, who have been playing together since the first practice round on May 30, continue to impress as all three individuals remain in contention. Elgert is tied with Moore at three-under, and Haas, the nation's top-ranked player, sits a stroke behind at two-under.

California retained its one-stroke advantage in the team race, but now leads Kentucky after the Wildcats shot 286 as a squad. BYU is in third place, two strokes behind Cal.

Moore's threesome, which will remain in tact, will begin its third round of play at 8:48 a.m. EDT on Thursday.
