LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's basketball team, under the direction of new head coach Lon Kruger, will head north to Canada for the weekend as it embarks on a four-game foreign exhibition tour. The Runnin' Rebels will head to Vancouver, British Columbia, on Friday, Sept. 3 and play four exhibition contests before heading back to Las Vegas on Monday night, Sept. 6. Allowed to participate in a trip such as this once every four years, the team was allowed to practice for 10 days leading up to the first game. Normally, the first time an NCAA Division I-affiliated program is allowed to practice as a team is the middle of October. After the weekend, the team will not be allowed to practice together again until Saturday, Oct. 16. UNLV returns three starters and eight letterwinners off last year's team that recorded an overall record of 18-13 after participating in the National Invitation Tournament for the third time in three years and advancing to the championship game of the Mountain West Conference Tournament for the third straight year as well.
