LAS VEGAS - UNLV freshman Elena Gantcheva won her semifinal match in straight sets to reach the championship of the top flight of the 2004 Women's Tennis Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Saturday.
Gantcheva downed Nischeia Reddy of Minnesota 6-3, 6-4 to advance. She will face Gabby Baker of Oklahoma in Sunday's title match, which will start at 9 a.m.
UNLV's only other singles victories came down in Flight Six where Lisa Lester got past Shelby Rohrer, also of Minnesota, 6-2, 6-4, and Stephanie Serrano rolled past Julia Sandborn of Hawaii 6-1, 6-0. The Lady Rebel teammates will face each other Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
UNLV also got two doubles victories on the day: Anne Claire Ortiz-Luis teamed with Mery Constanti to win Flight Four 8-6 while Serrano and Lester were victorious on Flight Six by the same score.
