LAS VEGAS - UNLV star freshman Johan Claar earned two top-four finishes at the 2005 FINA Swimming World Cup Zone 1 meet in Daejeon, Korea last week.
In Claar's first race, he touched the wall in 3:56.15 to earn a third-place finish in the 400m freestyle on Nov. 24. He followed that with a fourth-place swim of 15:31.80 in the 1500m freestyle on Nov. 25. Claar currently holds the fastest times in the Mountain West Conference in the 200y fly, 500y free, and 1000y free.
Claar, along with several other members of both the UNLV men's and women's swimming team, will compete in the U.S. Open this week, Dec. 1-3 in Auburn, Ala.
