KANEOHE, Hawaii - The sixth-ranked UNLV men's golf team is in second place, three shots off the lead, after the first round at the University of Hawaii Fall Intercollegiate played at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course (par 72, 6,559 yards) on Monday.
New Mexico State leads the field after firing an opening-round 5-under-par 283. The Rebels are the only other squad in a field of 19 teams under par as they sit in second place at 2-under 286. Baylor is in third at 2-over, San Diego State is fourth at 4-over and Hawaii rounds out the top five at 5-over.
UNLV sophomore C.J. Gatto shot a 6-under 66 and is tied for the individual lead with San Diego State's Luke Antonelli. Rebel freshman Seung-Su Han is tied for third, two shots off the lead at 4-under.
Other Rebel scores: Andres Gonzales (73, +1; T17th), Jarred Texter (79, +7; T72nd) and Eddie Olson (84, +12; T97th).
Play continues on Tuesday and concludes Wednesday with 18 holes each day.
