KANEOHE, Hawaii - The sixth-ranked UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round even-par 288 to remain in second place after the second round at the University of Hawaii Fall Intercollegiate played at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course (par 72, 6,559 yards) on Tuesday.
New Mexico State (283-287--570, -6) shot a second-round one-under 287 to increase its lead on the field to four shots as it has tallied a 36-hole total of 6-under 570. The Rebels (286-288--574, -2) are at 2-under for the tournament at 574 and are followed by Baylor (290-289--579, +3) in third place at 3-over, San Diego State (292-293--585, +9) at 9-over and Santa Clara (297-292--589, +13) rounds out the top five at 13-over.
UNLV sophomore C.J. Gatto (66-72--138, -6) took over sole possession of first place individually as he fired a second-round even-par 72 to bring his 36-hole total to 6-under 138. Baylor's Ryan Baca (68-73--141, -3) and San Diego State's Andrew Scott (72-69--141, -3) are both tied for second, three shots back at 3-under 141.
Two other Rebels are in the top 10 as Andres Gonzales (73-70--143, -1) shot a second-round 2-under 70 and Seung-Su Han (68-75--143, -1) shot 3-over 75 and are both tied for sixth at 1-under 143.
Other Rebels: Jarred Texter (79-71--150; +6, T37th) and Eddie Olson (84-79--163; +19, T95th).
Play concludes Wednesday with 18 holes.
