LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The UNLV women's track and field team continues its season this weekend as the Rebels will compete in the Husky Invite, hosted by the University of Washington on Feb. 12, in Seattle, Wash.
Headlining the Rebels will be senior distance runner Michele Suszek, who broke UNLV's school record in the indoor 5,000 meters at the New Balance Invite last weekend in Manhattan, N.Y. Suszek finished second at the NB Invite with a time of 17:18.57. The previous Rebel record was 17:34.31, set by Jenni Lopez during the 2001 indoor season.
Christine Spence, Halima Decree, Kiyota Reed and Teri Trautwein are among the other Rebels who will be competing Saturday. Spence has the second-best height in the high jump (5-9.5), the third-highest point total in the pentathlon (3,697) and the third-fastest time in the 60 meter hurdles (8.59) in the Mountain West Conference this indoor season. DeCree enters the weekend with the sixth-fastest time in the league in the 60 meters (7.67) while Reed has the fifth-fastest mark in the 60 meter hurdles (8.72).
UNLV will have one more indoor meet, the NAU Invite on Feb. 19 in Flagstaff, Ariz., before the MWC Indoor Championships on March 11-12 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
