Rebels Roll Into Final

Feb. 12, 2005

LAS VEGAS - UNLV downed San Francisco 4-0 late Saturday night to advance to Sunday's championship match of the annual UNLV Men's Tennis Spring Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Playing two rounds in one day because of a rain postponement on Friday, the Rebels improved to 5-2 by earning their fifth straight win by shutting out the Dons.

"Considering the rain delay and playing twice in one day, it was good to see everyone step up under less-than-great conditions," UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said. "We look forward to taking on a ranked opponent in the championship match Sunday."

UNLV will play 72nd-ranked Denver in the final, which is set to begin at noon. Admission is free. The Pioneers got by Southern Mississippi in the other late-night semifinal by the score of 4-2.
