LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's tennis team picked up its second straight shutout victory with a 7-0 final over Loyola Marymount in the first of two Rebel matches Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
UNLV lost only three sets en route to improving to 2-2 overall while the Lions fell to 0-2.
The Rebels started the day by taking both completed doubles matches for one team point. The final match, at the third position, was canceled with the score tied at seven.
In singles play, 38th-ranked Henner Nehles fought off Mike Wojnarowicz 6-1, 6-7, 6-3. At the second spot, No. 100 Aviram Salomon rallied past Nico Terrien 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Also winning for the hosts were Joel Kielbowicz at No. 3, Romain Massaro at No. 4, Jonathan Hooper at No. 5 and Martin Redelinghuys, who emerged from a third-set tiebreaker on court six. The Rebels will play Weber State later in the day.
