LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior Henner Nehles set a school record by being named the Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the fifth time in his career, the league announced Wednesday.

Nehles raised his overall record to 20-8 in singles and 16-2 in doubles this season by going a combined 6-2 over the last week. He won key singles matches in 4-3 finals over Yale and Portland and yesterday upset 57th-ranked Rohan Gajjar of Arkansas in the Rebels' 5-2 victory over the 71st-ranked Razorbacks. He also teamed with Sean Hubbard to take three of four doubles matches.

A native of Duisburg, Germany, Nehles first won the weekly award in 2003, twice last season and once last month. Former Rebel Asaf Tishler and former Lady Rebel Paulina Janus were the school's only other four-time conference honorees.

The Rebels (12-4), who have won four such awards in the last six weeks, are off until opening MWC play on April 1 vs. BYU in San Diego.

Also, UNLV's Elena Gantcheva was named the MWC Women's Player of the Week for the first time.
