LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's team continues to boast a singles player and doubles team as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its rankings on Tuesday.
In singles, Elena Gantcheva dipped six spots to No. 28 in the nation. The freshman from Sofia, Bulgaria, stands 11-3 in dual matches and 27-5 overall.
The Lady Rebel doubles team of senior Gyorgyi Zsiros and sophomore Claire Smith dropped five spots to No. 60 but still became the program's first duo to earn a spot in back-to-back rankings since Katarina Malec and Marianne Bakken at the end of the 2000 season.
Zsiros and Smith, who were named All-Mountain West Conference a year ago, currently stand 12-8 overall but 10-4 in dual action.
As a team, the UNLV women (9-6) fell five spots to 39th despite having the week off. The Lady Rebels return to the courts on Saturday when they play at Colorado State in a Mountain West Conference matchup.
