DeCree Sets MWC Outdoor Championships Record

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Halima Decree set the MWC Outdoor Championship meet record in the 100 meters with a time of 11.43 on Friday as the Rebels opened up the team competition of the championships held at Colorado State University's Jack Christiansen Stadium.

DeCree's time gave her the top mark for Saturday's finals and she also qualified for the finals in the 200 meters with a time of 23.27.

Christine Spence and Michele Suszek both scored points and through the third day of competition the Rebels have 14 teams photos and are currently fifth overall. Defending champion BYU has 79 points, while Utah is third with 34 points. San Diego State is fourth with 18 points, followed by UNLV while Air Force and Wyoming are sixth place (12) and New Mexico in eighth place (10).

Spence took second in the high jump, clearing 5'-11.25" while also qualifying for finals in the 100 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles. Suszek took seventh in the steeplechase with a time of 11:29.39.

Miesha McClendon also qualified for two finals, earning spots in the 100 finals with a time of 12.19 and in 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.65.

The fourth and final day of competition begins Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the women's javelin and the men's shot put. Running events begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women's 4x100 meter relay.
