LAS VEGAS - UNLV Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick announced two new staff additions Thursday in Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs Perk Weisenburger and Corporate Sales Executive Steve Moser.
Weisenburger is responsible for the oversight of a number of areas of the athletics department as well as the Thomas & Mack Center, Sam Boyd Stadium and Cox Pavilion. He will primarily focus on the corporate duties of those entities, some of which previously fell under the former ESPN Regional at UNLV office.
In addition to the corporate area, which includes sponsorships, Weisenburger will oversee the departments of marketing, ticketing, sports information/media relations and broadcasting.
Weisenburger comes to Las Vegas after five years as the Director of Athletics at Illinois State University. Prior to his time in Normal, Ill., he was the Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Operations at Wake Forest University from 1995-99.
"We are very happy to have someone of Perk's caliber and experience join us here at UNLV," Hamrick said. "The credentials that he has built working at major universities will be beneficial to us."
Weisenburger has also held the positions of Associate Director of Athletics for External Operations at Central Michigan University (1989-95), Director of Athletic Marketing and Promotions at the University of Washington (1984-89) and Manager of Athletic Marketing and Promotions at the University of Houston (1982-84).
Weisenburger graduated in 1979 from Central Michigan with a bachelor's degree in business administration and earned his master's in sports administration from Ohio University in 1982.
Moser, who was previously on UNLV's campus working as the senior account executive for ESPN Regional, will sell and manage accounts in the corporate sales department under the direction of Weisenburger.
Moser also worked as a sales manager for Las Vegas Stars baseball and Las Vegas Thunder hockey from 1993-2000. Prior to that, he was a merchandiser and in sales with the Coca Cola Bottling Company (1990-93).
Moser, who is a former Rebel baseball player, graduated from UNLV in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in business management.
