ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 7-under-par 281 and won the team title Saturday at the William H. Tucker Invitational at UNM's Championship Course (par 72, 7,339 yards).

UNLV (282-288-281--851, -13) finished the tournament at 13-under, 10 shots in front of second-place finisher BYU (289-296-276--861, -3). Texas Tech (280-297-285--862, -2), Baylor (287-298-285--870, +6) and Colorado (288-290-294--872, +8) rounded out the top five.

Rebel senior Andres Gonzales (67-72-68--207, -9) shot a final-round 4-under 68 to hold on for the individual title and became the first UNLV men's golfer other than former teammate Ryan Moore to win medalist honors since 2000.

After former Rebel Michael Kirk's win at the 2000 Mountain West Conference Championship, Moore had been the only Rebel golfer to win an individual crown.

Gonzales' teammate, sophomore Jarred Texter (69-72-68--209, -7), finished second on Saturday, two shots back.

Other Rebel scores: freshman Seung-Su Han (71-73-72--216, E; T13th), freshman Blake Trimble (77-71-73--221, +5; T39th) and senior Casey Fowles (75-77-75--227, +11; T72nd).

UNLV's next tournament will be at The Preview in Sunriver, Ore., Sept. 26-28.
