LAS VEGAS - Former NCAA champion Brian Wilson has joined the UNLV men's tennis staff as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Owen Hambrook announced.
Wilson, a Southern California native, was a two-time All-American at the University of Illinois and led the Illini to the 2003 NCAA team championship.
The top seeded player in the 2004 NCAA singles event, Wilson had one year earlier won the national doubles crown with partner Rajeev Ram.
A current member of the ATP Tour, Wilson has been ranked as high as 283 in the world in singles and 166 in doubles.
"Brian has been at the top of college tennis and knows what it takes to win and his insight and experience can only make us better," Hambrook said. "It also gives our guys a world-class player to learn from and play against in practice."
