Rebels Feel Bulldogs' Bite

FRESNO, Calif. - The 59th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team had its five-match winning streak snapped in convincing fashion Thursday, being upset 6-1 at No. 67 Fresno State in an evening match at the Wathen Tennis Center.

The Rebels fell to 6-2 overall while the Bulldogs improved to 6-1.

UNLV won at the top doubles position when Joel Kielbowicz and David Campbell combined for an 8-4 win over Sergiu Modoc and Sam Gibbs. However, Fresno State won at both the second and third spots to capture the team point.

In singles play, the Bulldogs won three of the four matches that went three sets. Only senior Romain Massaro prevailed for the visitors, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 over Modoc on court two.

The Rebels now head south to San Luis Obispo to take on Cal Poly Saturday morning.
