Rebels Shoot 10-Under To Remain 11th

WAHIAWA, Hawaii - The No. 7 UNLV men's golf team shot a 10-under-par 278 during the second round at the John Burns Intercollegiate on Thursday at the Leilehua Golf Course (par 72, 6,917 yards) and is tied for 11th place, 13 shots off the lead.

BYU shot a tournament-low second-round 19-under 269 and is tied with Auburn for first place at 29-under with totals of 547. SMU is third, three shots back, at 26-under, followed by Arizona, San Diego State and Colorado State, which are all in a three-way tie for fourth at 22-under. UNLV is tied with Denver for 11th at 16-under 560.

Auburn's Jay Moseley matched his first round score of 6-under 66 on Thursday and leads the field at 12-under 134, two shots ahead of teammate Glenn Northcut and Colorado State's Zen Brown, who are tied for second and 10-under.

UNLV senior Andres Gonzales recorded the lowest round of the tournament so far by Rebel with a second-round 5-under 67 and is in an eight-way tie for 18th at 6-under 138. Sophomore Jarred Texter, who shot a second-round 4-under 68, is also tied for 18th.

UNLV freshman Blake Trimble shot a second-round 2-under 70 and is tied for 38th at 3-under 141. Sophomore C.J. Gatto shot a 3-over 75 and is tied for 75th at 1-over, while freshman Seung-Su Han rounds out the Rebel players and is tied for 85th at 3-over.

The tournament, which includes 19 teams and 106 individuals concludes with 18 holes on Friday.
