Rebels Place Several Athletes In Finals

NAMPA, Idaho - Several UNLV women's track and field athletes advanced to the finals of the United Heritage Invitational on Friday at the Idaho Sports Center.

Ashley Owens posted the fastest qualifying times in both the 60 meters (7.40) and the 200 meters (24.44) to lead the Rebels.

UNLV had a total of four athletes qualify in the 60 meters as Lakeisha Lawson, Lauren Johnson and Tanesha Carr joining Owens in Saturday's finals. In the 200 meters Brittney Bullocks, Starema Flood, Ashley Patin Johnson and Lawson advanced to the finals.

Two Rebels also placed in finals that were held Friday, as Olivia Raya placed eighth and Alayna Mills placed 18th in the shot put. Raya heaved the weight 38'-7" and Mills tossed it 32'-1.50".

Saturday's action gets underway at 11:00 a.m. (PST) with the men's mile and the women's weight throw.
