Final Stats
NAMPA, Idaho - Rebel sophomore Ashley Owens won two events Saturday afternoon to lead the UNLV women's track and field at the United Heritage Invitational held at the Idaho Sports Center.
Owens won the 60 meters in a time of 7.35 and also took top honors in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 24.24. She was the only Rebel to win an event Saturday, although seven other Rebels finished in the top five.
UNLV had three other athletes finish in the top five in the 60 meters as Lakeisha Lawson (7.77) finished second while Tanesha Carr and Lauren Johnson finished tied for fourth (7.99). Two other Rebels had top-five performances in the 200 meters to go along with Owens win, as Brittney Bullocks came in second (25.42) and Johnson fifth (25.81).
Bullocks added a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters (54.85) and Deanna Appuglise (54.20) came in fifth in the event. UNLV's other top-five performance came from freshman distance runner Jennifer Shearer, who came in third in the one mile in a time of 5:28.62.
UNLV continues its season next weekend at the Albuquerque Invitational held on the campus of the University of New Mexico on Feb. 11.
