Rebels Shoot Final-Round 1-Under Par

TUCSON, Ariz. - The seventh-ranked UNLV men's golf team was one of just three teams under par during the final round of play at the National Invitational Tournament on Tuesday at OMNI Tucson National (par 72, 7,148 yards) as it shot a 1-under 287 to finish the tournament in a tie for ninth place at 7-over 871.

UCLA captured the team title after shooting a final-round even-par 288 to finish the tournament at 14-under 850, seven shots ahead of Arizona State, which recorded a second-place finish at 7-under 857.

Minnesota finished third at 3-under 861, followed by TCU in fourth at 1-under 863 and USC, which rounded out the top five at even-par 864. UNLV tied with host Arizona for ninth.

New Mexico's Jay Choi hung on for medalist honors after shooting a final-round 1-under 71 and finished the tournament at 6-under 210. There was a five-way tie for second place at 5-under 211.

UNLV senior Andres Gonzales shot even-par for the final round and led the Rebels with a tie for seventh place at 4-under 212, two shots off the lead.

UNLV sophomore C.J. Gatto shot a final-round 2-over 74 and finished tied for 39th at 3-over 219, freshman Seung-Su Han shot even-par 72 and sophomore Jarred Texter shot 3-under 69 to both tie for 43rd at 4-over 220, while sophomore Matt Kinsinger rounded out the Rebel scores with a 3-over 75 to finish 81st at 17-over 233.

UNLV's next action will be at the ASU/Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., April 8-9.
