LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's basketball senior forward Louis Amundson has been named to the 2005-06 United States Basketball Writers Association's All-District 8 Team, as voted by the association's membership and announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Amundson, who was also named to the All-Mountain West Conference Second Team on Monday, leads the Runnin' Rebels in scoring with 14.7 ppg, 8.7 rpg and 1.3 bpg.
Amundson has nine double-doubles in points and rebounds this season and has scored in double figures in 21 of the 27 games he has played in including scoring 20 or more points six times.
The other nine members of the All-District 8 squad are Nevada, Reno's Nick Fazekas, Utah State's Nate Harris, Air Force's Antoine Hood, Boise State's Coby Karl, BYU's Trent Plaisted, Colorado's Richard Roby, Colorado State's Jason Smith, Montana's Andrew Straight and Wyoming's Justin Williams.
Fazekas was named the District 8 Player of the Year, while BYU head coach Dave Rose earned Coach of the Year honors.
District 8 includes the states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
