LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's track and field team continues its season after taking a weekend off, with the Rebels slated to run in both the Mt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach Invitational this coming weekend.
Six athletes will compete in Walnut, Calif., at the Mt. SAC Relays, with Lekeisha Lawson, Brittney Bullocks, Lauren Johnson, Deanna Appuglise, Tanesha Carr and Ashley Patin all entered in running events. The meet will be held at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Lawson and Johnson are entered in the 100 meters, Bullocks will join those two in the 200 meters and Bullocks and Appuglise are entered in the 400 meters as well. Patin and Carr will then join two of their teammates in the 4x100 relay.
The rest of the Rebel team will compete Friday at the Springco/Long Beach Invitational held on the campus of Long Beach State University at Jack Rose Track.
Entering this weekend's competition the Rebels have some of the fastest sprint times in the Mountain West Conference midway through the outdoor season.
Lawson and Johnson have the third- and fourth-fastest times in the 100 meters, while Johnson also has the fourth-best mark in the 200 meters. The 4x100 meter relay team has clocked the second-best time in the league and 4x400 relay team has the fourth-best time thus far this season.
