LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's track and field team will send just its throwers this weekend to the Triton Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego at Triton Stadium on Friday night and all day Saturday. The meet will get underway Friday night with the men's and women's hammer throw and then a full day of competition will follow on Saturday.
Rebel head coach Barbara Ferrell-Edmonson is only sending her throwers to the meet, choosing to rest her sprinters after a tough weekend of competition in rainy conditions at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach Invitational.
Monique Humphries, who set the Rebel record in the hammer throw two weeks ago at the UNLV Invite, will be competing in that event as well as the shot put. Alayna Mills will also compete in the hammer throw and shot put while Olivia Raya is entered in the discus and shot put.
Following this weekend's meet the Rebels will have just one more before, the Steve Scott Invitational next weekend in Irvine, Calif., before the Mountain West Conference Championships May 10-13 in Provo, Utah.
