SUNRIVER, Ore. - The No. 8 UNLV men's golf team shot a third-round 9-over-par 297 on Friday at the NCAA Championships at Crosswater Golf Course (par 72, 7,630 yards) at the Sunriver Resort and failed to make the 15-team cut as it tied for 19th place with a total of 16-over 880.
Washington held on to the team lead after shooting 6-over 294 during the third round and leads the field by three shots at 7-under 857. Oklahoma State, Wake Forest and Arizona State are all tied for second at 4-under.
Minnesota and Lamar are both 1-over for the tournament and are tied for fifth. Clemson is seventh at 2-over, Florida is eighth at 3-over, Georgia is ninth at 5-over, while Texas A&M, Arizona, UCLA and Kentucky are all tied for 10th at 6-over.
Duke is 14th at 7-over, while BYU and Coastal Carolina tied for 15th at 10-over. BYU was the last team to advance to Saturday's final round by defeating Coastal Carolina in a playoff to take the 15th spot.
Oklahoma State's Jonathan Moore shot a 3-under 69 on Friday and leads the field by one shot at 9-under 207. Wake Forest's Kyle Reifers is second at 8-under, while Oklahoma State's Pablo Martin is third at 7-under and Texas A&M's Andrew Parr is fourth at 6-under.
UNLV sophomore C.J. Gatto led the Rebels with a tie for 39th place at 2-over 218 after shooting 4-over 76 during the third round.
Other Rebel scores: senior Andres Gonzales (70) and sophomore Jarred Texter (76) both tied for 74th at 5-over 221, freshman Seung-Su Han (75) tied for 111th at 9-over 225 and sophomore Matt Kinsinger (78) tied for 117th at 10-over 226.
