BOISE, Idaho - The 64th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team opened the semester by playing at Boise State in the ITA Mountain Region Team Playoff and was quickly dispatched by the host at the Boas Tennis Complex Saturday.

Playing indoors, Boise State, ranked 25th, won all four completed singles matches to advance with a 4-0 victory. The Rebels, ranked 64th, were eliminated and now return to prepare for their regular-season dual-match opener vs. Southern Mississippi on Feb. 2. UNLV fell to 0-2 in ITA team playoff action.

BSU's 15th-ranked Luke Shields won at the top spot 6-1, 6-2 over Elliot Wronski while No. 94 Clancy Shields blew by Brett Hunter on court two, 6-2, 6-0. Eric Robertson defeated Wesley Burrows 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 and Steve Robertson downed rookie Rebel Slavko Bijelica 6-1, 6-4 at the sixth position.

The remaining two matches were halted when the Broncos clinched the team match.

"This was a tough start to the season buy you have to say hats off to Boise State, which is a great indoor team" UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said. "Now we have to regroup and get ready for Southern Miss."
