LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Joe Darger scored a game-high 18 points to lead UNLV to a 78-55 win over Kennesaw State Friday in the Duel of the Desert.
Wink Adams had 13 points and 5 assists, and Matt Shaw added 12 points and 8 rebounds for UNLV (9-3).
Kelvin McConnell led Kennesaw State (2-9) with 11 points.
The Rebels used a 21-2 run to end the first half. They held the Owls without a field goal in the final 6:35 of the first half. After UNLV led 43-22 at halftime, the Rebels never let the lead go below 19 points in the second half.
UNLV plays Nicholls State Saturday night and Minnesota Sunday in the four-team, three-game tournament. The Owls battle Minnesota Saturday, and Nicholls State Sunday.
