Wronski Right For Rankings

Feb. 21, 2007

LAS VEGAS - UNLV sophomore Elliot Wronski earned his first career national ranking in singles when the Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings were released on Wednesday.

The native of Cheltenham, England, made his debut on the list at No. 85 after upsetting then-No. 26 Jakub Cech of Fresno State, 6-2, 6-3 over the weekend.

Playing at the top spot in the lineup, Wronski improved to 4-2 in dual matches this season and now stands 22-9 in his career. This marked the program's highest regular-season individual ranking since Henner Nehles finished at No. 58 in May 2005.

As a team, the Rebels (2-5) remained just inside the rankings at No. 74 for the third consecutive week. Next up, UNLV takes on former Big West Conference rival and 75th-ranked UC Irvine on Saturday at 6 p.m. in a neutral-site match at the Darling Tennis Center.
