'White Out' Planned For Senior Night

Feb. 23, 2007

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's basketball team's regular season finale on Saturday, March 3 at 6 p.m. against Colorado State at the Thomas & Mack Center will not only be senior night, but is also being planned as a "white out."

All fans are encouraged to wear white to the game as a show of support and spirit as UNLV bids a fond farewell to its five seniors during their last regular season home game.

White T-shirts will be given out to the first 5,000 fans in attendance and posters featuring UNLV's seniors will be distributed to the first 2,500 kids ages 12-and-under.

Additionally, following the game, UNLV's players and coaches will stick around to sign autographs on the court.

A large crowd is expected, so the doors to the Thomas & Mack Center will open 1.5 hours before tip at 4:30 p.m., which is a half-hour earlier than normal. The Senior Night ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m.

"This season has been a growing process for our players and our fans," Head Coach Lon Kruger said following UNLV's 60-50 win on Tuesday over No. 13/14 Air Force at the Thomas & Mack Center. "The crowds have grown along with us and they have been great. I think we can sell it out (for senior night March 3 against Colorado State). We need to take that next step as a program and I want to encourage everyone to wear a white shirt to the game against CSU.

"Senior night is always a special occasion and this group of five Runnin' Rebel seniors have been great. They have been leaders for us on and off the court and it will be great to have huge crowd on hand to acknowledge their contributions to this program."

UNLV's next game is at New Mexico on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 7:00 p.m. PST and may be seen live on the mtn. (Cox Digital Cable channel 334 in Las Vegas). The Runnin' Rebels are 23-6 overall and 10-4 in Mountain West Conference play. UNLV, which boasts its best record at this point in the season in 15 years, is 15-1 at home this year and has the nation's 15th-longest home win streak with 13 straight victories at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The T-shirt giveaway is being sponsored by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, American Family Insurance, ESPN Radio 920, The Equity Group, Bank of America, RC Willey and Pepsi. The poster is being sponsored by Lewco Electric with promotional consideration being provided by Nike and KLAS-TV.
