UNLV Heats Up At ASU

Tempe, AZ - UNLV women's track and field had five individuals and a relay team finish in the top 10 at the Clif Bar Invitational, held at Sun Angel Stadium on Arizona State University's campus on Saturday.

The Rebels had a strong day on the track with four student-athletes placing high, led by Lekeisha Lawson, who ran a time of 12.14 in the 100 meters to finish third overall in the event. Right behind her was Lauren Johnson, who came in fifth with a time of 12.15.

Also on the track Meia Tezeno crossed the finish line with a time of 14.10 in the 100-meter hurdles to finish sixth and Charlotte Browning came in ninth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:30.17. In the 4x100 relay Johnson, Lawson and Tezeno joined Aja Evans to finish fourth in the event with a time of 46.39.

Evans added a strong showing in the shot put as well, placing ninth in with a mark of 45'-4.50".

The Rebels were part of a 17-team women's field while men's collegiate teams also competed, as well as individuals that included 2004 Olympic gold medalist Dwight Phillips.

UNLV's next meet is the Cal-Nevada Championships next Friday and Saturday in Fresno, Calif.
