TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 6 UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round 4-under-par 284 on Saturday at the Thunderbird Invitational at Karsten Golf Course (par 72, 7,057 yards) and is still in seventh place (tied with Oklahoma) at 7-under 569 after 36 holes.
Oregon shot a 9-under 279 during the second round and increased its lead to five shots. The Ducks lead the field at 20-under 556. Texas A&M also shot 9-under during the second round, but is five shots back in second place at 15-under 561. USC is third at 13-under, followed by Arizona and Arizona State, which are both tied for fourth at 12-under.
Oregon's Derek Sipe increased his lead on all individuals to two shots. Sipe is in first place at 13-under 131 after shooting a 6-under 66 on Saturday. New Mexico's Charlie Beljan is second at 11-under. Beljan was 5-under during the second round.
Jarred Texter leads all UNLV players at 5-under 139 and is tied for seventh place. Texter shot a second-round 3-under 69.
