UNLV women's track and field had a successful ending to its regular season as four Rebels earned top-10 finishes at the Asics/Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine.
UNLV sophomore Charlotte Browning led the Rebels at Anteater Track, finishing first in the 800 meters in a time of 2:11.60, which was almost two full seconds fastest than the second-place finisher. Also on the track senior Ashley Patin ran the sixth-fastest time of the day in the 400 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:05.38.
Away from the track is where the Rebels had their second pair of top-10 finishers in Aja Evans and Meia Tezeno.
Evans finished second in the shot put with a heave of 48'-4.50" from the circle. Evans also ran a time of 12.36 in the 100 meters. Tezeno placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 18'-7.00". She also ran a time of 14.28 in the 100 meter hurdles and 11.99 in the 100 meters.
This was the final tune up for head coach Barbara Ferrell-Edmonson's team, which has next weekend off before traveling to San Diego for the 2007 Mountain West Conference Championships. The meet will be hosted by San Diego State University and is scheduled to run from May 9-12.
