Sept. 13, 2007

LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's tennis standout Elliot Wronski has earned a career-best standing of 27 in the preseason FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.

Wronski, a native of Cheltenham, England, finished last season ranked 50th, which was his previous high.

During his breakout sophomore campaign, Wronski went 20-13 overall, was named the ITA Mountain Region Player to Watch and earned the highest final singles ranking by a Rebel since Asaf Tishler closed at 45 in 1999. He also advanced to the second round of the NCAA Singles Championship.

"It's great to have someone ranked so high in the preseason because it showed how hard he worked last year" UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said about the highest-ranked player from a Mountain West Conference school. "We look forward to Elliot getting better and better and having a big junior season."
