Sreibers Picks Up Weekly MWC Honors

Jan. 30, 2008

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's Lara Sreibers was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Co-Swimmer of the Week it was announced on Wednesday by the league. It's the first honor of the season for Sriebers, and she is the first freshman from UNLV to earn the honor this season, as she split the award with TCU's Maria Alvarez.

Sreibers, a native of Mukilteo, Wash., won both of her distance events this past weekend in UNLV's loss at UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 26. She began the meet by winning the 1000 free in a time of 10:16.41, which is the fifth-best time in the MWC this season. Sreibers then added another win, this time in the 500 free in 4:58.57, which ranks eighth in the league this year.
