The Mountain West Conference 10th Anniversary Women's Indoor Track & Field Team
LAS VEGAS - Former UNLV track and field star Michele Davis was named to the Mountain West Conference 10th Anniversary Women's Indoor Track & Field Team, the league announced this week.
The team was selected by a combined panel of media, institutional and conference personnel and on-line fan poll, and in order to be eligible for consideration, candidates must have won an event at the Mountain West Conference Championship at least once in their careers.
Davis was a dominant force on the track during her career with the Rebels which spanned from 1999-02, winning seven individual titles at three MWC Indoor Championship meets, including three each in 2001 and 2002. She was the high-point scorer at both those championship meets, winning the 60, 200 and 400 meters each year.
Davis, a native of Lansing, Mich., was a four-time All-American, earning the honor twice in 2000 in the 200 and 400 meters, and two more times in 2002 in the same pair of events. Davis' highest finish at the NCAA meet came in 2000, when she placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.14. That mark remains the school record for the Rebels.
Anniversary teams will be chosen for each of the 19 conference-sponsored sports during the 2008-09 seasons in celebration of the Mountain West's 10th anniversary.
