LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's cross country team is wrapping up their regular season on Saturday at the Bronco Invitational, which is being hosted by Santa Clara and is being held at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif.
The Rebels will be running in what is considered to be the largest collegiate meet on the West Coast. The meet will consist of roughly 19 other teams, including Mountain West Conference opponent San Diego State, and is expected to start around 9:45 am.
UNLV is taking seniors Jenni Shearer and Isabelle Stoate, sophomore Ashley Silva, and freshmen Erin Murphy, Amber Throop, and Brett Zorich. This will be the first time to the invitational for each of the runners.
"This is our last meet before the conference championships," said head coach Tony Houchin. "We're going to get a pretty solid idea of where we are and how we're going to finish at conference based on this weekend's performance."
This will be the final road trip for the Rebels before heading into conference championships. UNLV has had great success with each trip to California this season and does not look to be slowing down this time around. In UNLV's last meet, the Rebels finished 10th at the UC Riverside invitational and saw Shearer put up one the top times in UNLV history at 17:24.8.
