Fall Tourney Time Over

Oct. 26, 2008

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's tennis team concluded its fall tournament schedule with a lone match on Sunday at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Women's West Regional Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.

Senior Katy Williams saw her successful run in the consolation draw end with a 6-4, 6-3 loss at the hands of Stephanie Jeanes of Long Beach State.

The Lady Rebels, who are off until hosting the Freeman Memorial tournament starting January 16, enjoyed a positive week at the annual regional event, especially in doubles play.

"Overall, a solid week of tennis for us," said UNLV head coach Kevin Cory. "It's always great to compete against players from some of the best programs in the nation. We had some significant wins over good players and having two doubles teams reach the quarterfinals at this tournament for the first time ever was a good way to head into winter."
