A Night With The Rebels Proves A Success

Feb. 19, 2008

LAS VEGAS - Last week's fundraiser put on by the UNLV men's tennis program,"A Night with the Rebels," turned out to be a night to remember.

The tennis community of Las Vegas showed up to enjoy a fun-filled doubles mixer. The sensational setting of the Darling Tennis Center, allowed alumni, boosters, local organizations and community members to play alongside and against players from the defending Mountain West Conference champions.

The night was capped off by a doubles exhibition pairing former Rebel and 1997 NCAA doubles champion, Tim Blenkiron, with former UNLV assistant coach Stephane Matheu-Cambas against the club's current No. 1 doubles team of Elliot Wronski and Wesley Burrows. The foursome put on an unbelievable display of serving, returning, and shot making, in a match that went all the way to a tie-breaker.

"Tonight was a lot of fun, and a special thank you to all of our former Rebels and local community members for making this such a special night," said UNLV men's tennis head coach Owen Hambrook. "We were honored by the enthusiasm and excitement that each one brought to the court tonight. It's nights like these that really make the Las Vegas community stand out."
