LAS VEGAS - The 72nd-ranked UNLV men's tennis team improved its dual-match record to 2-1 with a 5-2 victory over regional-rival New Mexico State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Saturday.

The Rebels had to rally after dropping the doubles point in the morning. The Aggies took matches at spots one and two while UNLV's only victory came at the top where Elliot Wronski and Wesley Burrows staged an 8-2 win.

It was a different story in singles, however, as the hosts nearly swept the six matches. Wronski rolled 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1, Burrows came back to win 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2, Luca Barlocchi won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3, David Campbell got by his opponent 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 4 and Andrew Giuffrida was victorious 7-5, 6-1 on court six. NMSU's only win came at No. 5 where Eduardo Salas eked by Bryan Miller in a super-tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).

"After letting the doubles point slip away, everyone bounced back in singles to come together and defeat a very good New Mexico State team," UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said. "Now we have to prepare for another tough match on Sunday."

UNLV closes out its opening weekend, weather permitting, by hosting Saint Mary's College on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
