March 19, 2008

Las Vegas - After an unforgettable opening to the start of the outdoor season due to the surprising high winds, UNLV looks to leave home and head to Los Angeles for the USC Trojan Invitational at Loker Stadium.

The second meet of the season looks to bring out tough competition. Some of the competing teams include University of Southern California, San Diego State, UC Santa Barbra, Washington State and Long Beach State.

The opening of the season brought strong performances and some promising results. Monique Humphries and Lauren Johnson both had a strong opening to the season and these student- athletes are looking to duplicate the results.

An event to look for is the 4X4 relay team which is looking to obtain the NCAA qualifying time of 46.00 seconds. Lekeisha Lawson and Johnson should have strong performances in short sprints. Also look for Humphries to continue her strong performance in the hammer throw. Brittney Bullocks is expected to do well in the 400 meters and the Polee sisters are expected to produce strong results in the long jump.

"This should be an exciting week, it's an opportunity to get tough and compete," says Yvonne Scott-Williams.
