Walnut,Calif.- The tagline for the Mt. Sac Relay is "Where the Best Athletes Compete" and with dual meets at Long Beach and Mt Sac, UNLV showed they can compete.
Brittney Bullocks had a fifth place finish for UNLV with a time of 55.54 in the 400 meters. Lauren Johnson had a second place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.86, which was a season best. In her section of the 200 Johnson took first place with a time of 24.14 and Lekeisha Lawson came in sixth place with a time of 25.14 and also had a season best in the 100 with a time of 11.92 in Long Beach.
In her first collegiate race the 500-meter, Bailey Kuestermeyer had an impressive performance. Tanesha Carr also hit a personal record in the 200 meter as well did Monique Humphries who also had a personal record in the shot put.
"Its exciting to see everything come together when it is suppose to. As we get closer to the outdoor conference meet, we will be looking for even greater marks from the team. This was just another big step towards that goal," says Yvonne Scott-Williams.
The sprinters in the 4X100 relays will compete on Sunday at Mt. Sac relays. According to Scott-Williams they are ready to meet the regional mark.
On Sunday the events begin at 11:00 a.m.(PT) with the women's hammer. The 4X100 women's relay starts at 12:25 p.m. Events for the day end with the men's 4X400 meter relay at 2:10 p.m.
